I generally look for recipes that take no more than 30 minutes work time. I don’t mind if it needs to cook a little longer, as long as I don’t have to do any work (simmering, crock pot, etc.). I find that a lot of recipes claim to take only 30 minutes, but they require you to have cooked the meat beforehand or chopped things ahead of time. No sir. That’s time I spend in the kitchen, and it goes toward my 30 minutes.

When possible, I try to use fresh vegetables and spices, but I do still use some prepared foods, canned goods, and frozen things. I just put this disclaimer here. I would imagine you can substitute the fresh, healthy stuff pretty easily in most of these recipes—but I’m not skilled enough to tell you more than that. The shortage is mine, and I apologize.
